Vietri sul Mare parking – where to park your car?

Vietri sul Mare

Vietri sul Mare is a lovely coastal town in the Campania region with around 7,000 inhabitants. While not as popular as Positano or Amalfi, it attracts a significant number of tourists, especially during the summer months. In recent years, the increasing use of car rental services for exploring the Amalfi Coast has led to parking problems all along the coast. The town’s narrow streets and limited parking spaces make it difficult to find a spot throughout the whole year, and the situation is even more challenging during the peak season from June to August.

Fortunately, there are a few parking lots where visitors can try their luck, and those who don’t mind a bit of a walk or taking a taxi can park in the nearby hamlets. But still, coming to Vietri sul Mare by car or renting one is not advisable. It is better and easier to use public transportation like buses or ferries, even though they are not as comfortable as cars.

As we mentioned above, Vietri sul Mare has few paid public parking lots. They are scattered throughout the town, so you can park near the historic center or the beach. Keep in mind that you won’t have problems finding a parking spot in the winter months, but during the summer, there is a high possibility that all parking lots will be full. Here are all the paid parking spots in Vietri sul Mare:

Piazza Matteotti is a central parking area in Vietri sul Mare, located at Corso Umberto I, just a short walk from the historic center. Even though this parking is far from the beach, it is an ideal starting point for exploring the town’s ceramic shops, cafes, and restaurants. The car park has only around twenty parking spaces, so it can be pretty hard to find an available one. However, Piazza Matteotti parking is very convenient as it allows you to pay with a debit card or cash, but absolutely not recommended for long stays. Why, you may ask?

Because of the popularity and location of this parking lot, don’t be surprised if you see cars waiting in line in front of the barrier for a parking space to become available.

Campo Sportivo is an improvised parking lot in a sports field, near the beach. It is quite large, but very dusty and sunny car park, so prepare that your car will get very dirty after a few hours there. The parking costs 2 euros an hour, so as long as you spend a maximum of 5 hours there it could be fine, but leaving your car for a few days would be too expensive.

Street parking in front of the railway station, located at Via XXV Luglio, is another street parking where you can park your car for the parking rate of 1,50 euros per hour. This one is pretty far from the center of the town and the beach, but it is a good option for overnight parking. Not only this is the cheapest paid parking lot in Vietri sul Mare, but it is also located in a quiet area. Also, this parking is your best bet to find your space during the summer months.

Via Ligea parking is actually a paid parking lot outside Vietri sul Mare, that actually belongs to Salerno city. However, it is still close enough to Vietri, so it can be a good option for parking if you can find an available parking spot in the town.
