Even though Amalfi Coast is so popular, it doesn’t have its own airport yet. So, if you are coming to Amalfi Coast by plane, you will have to land at some nearby airports. There are a few of them that have international and domestic flights, and all of them are very well connected by public transportation to the Amalfi Coast.

What is the nearest airport to Amalfi Coast?

The closest airport to Amalfi Coast is called Capodichino Airport, and it is located in Naples. This is the biggest airport in the Campania region and Southern Italy, but it is still a bit small compared to airports in Rome or Milan. However, the International Airport of Naples was recently renovated, so it is now pretty comfortable with many amenities such as VIP lounges, conference rooms, and shopping stores.

This airport is located only 7 kilometers away from the Naples center, and there is a shuttle bus that runs every hour. As we mentioned above, Naples Airport is not big, so don’t expect a lot of direct international flights. If you want to visit Amalfi Coast but don’t have a direct flight, don’t worry.

You can always take a flight to Rome Airport and from there get public transportation all the way to the Amalfi Coast. That way, you will even save some money because flights to Rome are cheaper than those to Naples. The other options are the airports in Salerno and Bari. The airport in Salerno usually has only domestic flights, so don’t bother with searching for your flight to Salerno if you are based outside Italy.

How to get from Naples airport to Amalfi Coast?

The cheapest way to reach Amalfi Coast is to get a shuttle bus from Naples airport to Naples train station. After that, get a train from Naples to Sorrento (check the timetable here) and then the SITA bus from Sorrento to your desired destination on Amalfi Coast (check the timetable here). The second way, which is the easiest but the most expensive one, includes taking a private shuttle or taxi directly from the airport. This is also the most comfortable way if you have a lot of luggage.

You can also travel on the sea because most of Amalfi Coast’s coastal towns are connected by ferries. There are many ferry lines throughout the day that run from Naples or Sorrento. Tickets for the ferry are in range from 20 to 35 euros in one direction, which is not too expensive. Therefore, we advise taking a ferry so that the journey is not only waiting to get to the desired location but also a lovely experience on its own.
